Why Massage?

Micro, in massage heaven...

Relaxation and general wellness massage: Massage for any pet is an effective and enjoyable element of wellness care. Massage aids the immune system and increases circulation throughout the the body. Stressed pets respond well to the calming effects of massage and healing touch through the parasympathetic response. Animals that are anxious in busy environments or competitive settings often perform better after receiving soothing, circulation style warming massage. Animals in a hospital environment often exhibit less anxiety and depression after receiving massage.

Sports massage: Pets involved in competitive sports are true athletes. They push their bodies hard and can develop injuries. Hard exercise without proper warm ups and cool downs can increase wear to their joints. Massage before athletic events can warm the muscles and joints in preparation for the competition, decreasing the likelihood of injury. Massage after an event can stretch out exhausted muscles and calm an excited competitor, decreasing stiffness and soreness after an event.

Rehabilitation massage: Massage with the intent of helping an animal heal from surgery or cope with an ongoing condition is just as valuable to animals as it is to people. Massage provides passive movement of the tissues which increases circulation to healing areas. Massage helps to remove debris and toxins from the injured tissues, while bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the area, which speeds the healing process, decreases swelling, and eases stiffness. Massage, with applied gentle range of motion (ROM) movements and stretches, helps your pet to retain and gain flexibility of compromised joints. Massage for chronic conditions, such as arthritis, helps to break up adhesions, lubricate the joints and sooth the tension in compensating muscles.

Testimonial

“Our 14 year old, cancer surviving, arthritic, 4-legged loved one,
Baxter, loves his time with Jessica.  He settles right in to the Zen
zone as she masterfully massages and maneuvers his joints and eases a
bit of his pain.  His increased energy level is immediately noticeable.
We highly recommend Jessica’s services and appreciate the compassion she
brings to her work.”
